It provides companies, particularly SMEs and start-ups, with a distributed infrastructure for experimentation and testing, enabling the development of products and services in the area of Data Spaces in line with Gaia-X and IDSA initiatives.
The product or service must enter the pilot with any level of TRL and reach at least level 5. If the entry level is equal to or higher than level 5, the exit level must increase by at least one level in relation to the entry level.

ED-X is a crucial element in the sharing of knowledge, meeting, concerting and accelerating many activities that are currently being developed in the agendas and pacts of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), boosting the identification of new value chains in this new data economy.
ED-X is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) in its Component 16, ‘Companies 4.0’, in the Digital Transition dimension, in the measure ‘National Network of Test Beds’, by the Portuguese Republic and by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU programme.

Demonstration, experimentation, testing and training
Offering companies that develop products and services based on data a demonstration, experimentation, testing and training infrastructure, guaranteeing open access to all interested parties under fair conditions and at appropriate prices.
Effective interoperability between data spaces
Provide conditions for effective interoperability between data spaces of different CSPs (Customer Service Providers).
Exploratory innovation
Create an environment of exploratory innovation and collaboration, where knowledge and learning are shared in order to quickly position these solutions on the market.
Gaia-X
Create conditions for Customer Service Providers to collaborate with each other to promote interoperability in accordance with Gaia-X rules, policies and regulations.
Empowering companies
Empower participating companies with a ‘Know & Do’ learning methodology.
Collaboration
Encourage collaboration between the RRP’s Mobilising Agendas, other Test Beds, Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) and Technology Free Zones, boosting the integration of value and continuity.
Promotion and dissemination of results
Promotion and dissemination of the results of the new pilot products/services in Portugal and Europe, using the open communication channel with other European Gaia-X Hubs.

How to participate?
If you have a product or service in a Data Space or intend to place your product or service in a Data Space aligned with Gaia-X Trust Framework and IDSA Reference Architecture, you can apply to implement the pilot in any of the five existing infrastructures.
Your product or service must enter the pilot phase at any TRL level and reach at least level 5. If the entry level is equal to or higher than level 5, the exit level must increase by at least one level compared to the entry level.
